I'm James A. Smith, founder of GrowToGive, a personal & professional development club. I've taught my sales-closing technique to several thousand salespeople, both in class and in the field on sales calls. Now I get to share it locally with you!

I started my sales career as a door-to-door vacuum salesman (Rainbow) in 1991. We gave prospects a door gift for allowing us to show them our vacuum. At the end we asked them for $1200. It was a one time sales opportunity. Incredibly, the national closing rate was, and still is 33%! But I couldn't give one away. Don't get me wrong, I sold a lot. I sold my car, my furniture, and anything else to pay the bills!

I was tired of calling in with a "No Sale!" I was wasting my time and gas, embarrassed, had low confidence, and a pitiful sales rate of 7% when average was 33%! So, after a few months I QUIT!

A few weeks later I went back and admitted I wasn't asking for the sale because I didn't want to appear pushy or continue being rejected.
WE FIXED MY PROBLEM! Immediately I started closing 50%! After advanced training, 70%! I won trips, made lots of money, and even earned my own distributorship (Rainbow store).
